Don't Follow the Web Design Trends

I always advise clients right away to scan the web and look at their peers and competitor websites to see what they might want to do. Usually, that sounds like "copying" but it doesn't have to go in that direction.

There are lots of posts online telling you what the newest trends are in web design. Some are predictions of things to come - often turning out to be wrong - and some are based on what has been seen in past months. All this tends to lead to lots of similar web layouts and styles. (Also a result of template-driven design)

A post from line25.com showcases 25 innovative designs that buck the popular trends in favor of experimental ideas. Take a look at their unusual navigations, layouts or use of animation and effects.

siverthoyem.com is a minimalistic design with an interesting layout, features,
hamburger menu navigation and simple but effective animation.
